Therapeutic Yoga

Therapeutic Yoga

Teens | Adults. Available for groups. Whether you have practiced yoga a few times or have never practiced at all you will be able to participate.
Fridays 10-11 am - 4 sessions

We are proud to announce our yoga program, which we call the Holistic Healing Treatment Cycle. It will consist of 4 group sessions. The teacher will guide participants through a moving meditation. In other words, each session will include breathwork, stretching, and other physical poses. The classes will be at all levels. Whether you have practiced yoga a few times or have never practiced at all you will be able to participate. 1.30

The first session will focus on assessing the needs of the group. This will include the physical needs as well as discussions about the psychological benefits of yoga. Participants will have the chance to express any concerns they have about treatment at this time.

The following sessions will consist of more yoga and breathwork than the initial. If the teacher notices the ability/desire for the group to practice at a more advanced level, the teacher will gradually increase the intensity of the yoga. However, the teacher can also cater to groups that desire yoga that is not physically intense. Each session will end with time for participants to ask the teacher questions about the practice.

In addition to practicing yoga in the final session, the teacher will provide the participants with personalized handouts. The handouts will include specific instructions regarding how to do breathwork techniques so that the participants can continue to use these techniques. The teacher will also include a personalized list of poses that can benefit those suffering from a specific issue (ex. a tight quadriceps muscle) based on the needs of each participant.

Rachel Friedman, MSW "I believe yoga is not just a physical practice, but also a way to calm the mind. By synching movement and breath, one can increase their engagement with the present moment. Increased presence can offset anxiety and depression. "
